On 8 June 2026, IDEALIST partner COMET – Cluster Metalmeccanica Friuli Venezia Giulia organised a major Strategic Foresight event at the Lean Experience Factory (LEF) in San Vito al Tagliamento, involving over 120 participants representing more than 70 manufacturing companies.
Developed in collaboration with -skopìa Anticipation Services, the initiative invited companies to look beyond today’s challenges and explore the possible future scenarios shaping the mechanical engineering industry in Friuli Venezia Giulia.
The event strongly reflects the approach promoted by IDEALIST, where Strategic Foresight is used to help SMEs detect early signals of change, emerging trends and potential disruptions, understand their possible impact and turn these insights into better strategic decisions. IDEALIST has developed dedicated Horizon Scanning methodologies and tools precisely to help companies move from reacting to disruption to anticipating it.
By bringing such a large group of companies into a shared foresight exercise, COMET demonstrated how anticipation can become a practical tool for an entire industrial ecosystem, strengthening awareness, preparedness and resilience.
The future cannot be predicted, but SMEs can learn to recognise its signals early enough to shape their next move.
